Well, we are into the season now and everyone has a couple of matches under their belt with varied success.
Ryan Hopkins has a 78 and Joe Prendergast is the men’s leading wicket taker so far. The ladies are going well and Louise McCarthy had amazing figures against Malahide of 5 for 0 off 4!!!. The youth section are going great guns and have a busy fixtures programme. We are looking for senior members to mentor the girls and boys teams and umpire games if available. Please contact Barry or me if you can help.

Unfortunately the weather has not been brilliant which has affected the cricket, but on the up side the ground is in top notch condition. The seats along the wall have been repaired and the bendy wood replaced many thanks to Noel Gough for his generosity and to Con for all the work. I am confident now that we will all have a splinter free summer!

The planting for the front of the clubhouse and along the wall has also been completed and looks fantastic. You will notice that there is a new flower bed down by the car park wall. This has been dedicated in honour of Frank Malin. Many thanks for all involved with this work, it really enhances the look and the atmosphere of the club and we are indebted to those who make it possible.

The bar area looks fantastic and the hall has been repainted. Thanks to Phillip for making sure the facility is ready for the members. I know he also has a lot of party and corporate events booked in for the summer. Frankly, we would not survive without these events to bring in revenue but, please be aware that PCC members are always facilitated either in the main bar or the Ganley Room, so don’t feel that you cannot come down to your club.

I had great pleasure last weekend hosting a lunch before the first’s game against YM. It was really well attended and an ideal opportunity to honour Andy Balbirnie’s excellent World Cup. We hung a terrific tribute to him over the fireplace in the bar.

Balbirnies Tribute Unveiling

I was also delighted to pay tribute to Mary Sharp and the awards she received over the winter. I presented Mary with a photographic momento which I’m delighted to say she has agreed will be hung in the bar.

Please note that your subs are now due. If you are a player, I urge you to arrange to pay now as we will enforce the no pay no play policy after the June bank holiday weekend. As you are all aware we need this income to invest it in the development of cricket and cricketers and for the day to day running of the club. All sub amounts are on the website.
That’s it for now I think. If you would like to get involved in the running of the club or with the ground preparation please let me know.

Cheers
Janice
